Cyprus has always held a special place in my heart, and at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, Antigoni gave me another reason to feel connected to a country that means so much to me.
Representing Cyprus with “JALLA”, Antigoni brought Cypriot identity, Mediterranean energy and a strong sense of personality to the Eurovision stage in Vienna. She successfully qualified from the second semi-final, finishing 10th, and went on to represent Cyprus in the Grand Final, where she finished 19th with 75 points.
For me, however, Eurovision has never been only about the final scoreboard.
Antigoni had my vote from Romania
I personally supported Antigoni and Cyprus with my votes from Romania. I wanted to see Cyprus qualify. I wanted to see “JALLA” in the Grand Final. Most importantly, I wanted to support an artist representing a country with which I have a deep personal connection.
I lived in Cyprus for several years, including periods in Limassol and Larnaca. Those years left me with memories that I still carry with me today.
I miss Cyprus.
I miss its music and its musical culture. I miss the food, the atmosphere and the people. There is a warmth and identity to the island that is difficult to forget once you have experienced life there.
Watching Antigoni on the Eurovision stage brought some of those feelings back.
“JALLA” Felt Like Cyprus
Cyprus selected Antigoni internally for Eurovision 2026, and “JALLA” was officially presented in February. Antigoni was also one of the songwriters behind the entry, making the song part of her own artistic vision rather than simply a track handed to her to perform.
What attracted me to “JALLA” was its character.
It was energetic, immediate and connected to Antigoni’s Cypriot roots. It felt like a Eurovision entry that knew exactly what it wanted to be.
On stage, Antigoni delivered that energy with confidence. The performance had movement, attitude and a strong Mediterranean identity. She did not disappear behind the staging. She remained the centre of the performance.
That matters at Eurovision.
With dozens of countries competing for the audience’s attention, an artist needs to create a recognizable identity within three minutes. Antigoni achieved that.
From the Semi-Final to the Grand Final
One of the most exciting moments was seeing Cyprus announced as a qualifier from the second semi-final.
After Cyprus narrowly missed the Grand Final in 2025, Antigoni brought the country back to Eurovision’s Saturday night show in 2026.
For those of us supporting Cyprus, qualification itself was a moment worth celebrating.
The final result, 19th place and 75 points, does not fully describe what I enjoyed about the performance.
Eurovision rankings are important, but music is ultimately personal. Sometimes an entry finishing outside the Top 10 can stay with you much longer than songs that finished higher.
For me, “JALLA” is one of those entries.
Cyprus Will Always Have My Support 🇨🇾❤️🇷🇴
My connection with Cyprus goes far beyond Eurovision.
Having lived in Limassol and Larnaca, I developed a real affection for the island, its culture, its music, its food and especially its people. Even though I watched and voted from Romania this year, a part of me was supporting Cyprus as someone who once called the island home. Antigoni represented that country with confidence and personality. I was proud to support her from Romania, and I would happily do it again.

Η Κύπρος είχε πάντα μια ξεχωριστή θέση στην καρδιά μου και στη Eurovision 2026 η Antigoni μού έδωσε ακόμη έναν λόγο να νιώσω κοντά σε μια χώρα που σημαίνει πολλά για μένα.
Εκπροσωπώντας την Κύπρο με το „JALLA”, η Antigoni έφερε στη σκηνή της Eurovision κυπριακή ταυτότητα, μεσογειακή ενέργεια και έντονη προσωπικότητα.
Κατάφερε να προκριθεί από τον δεύτερο ημιτελικό και να πάρει το εισιτήριο για τον Μεγάλο Τελικό, εκπροσωπώντας την Κύπρο με μια εμφάνιση που προσωπικά ξεχώρισα.
Για μένα, όμως, η Eurovision δεν είναι μόνο βαθμολογίες και θέσεις. Είναι μουσική, συναίσθημα και η σύνδεση που μπορεί να δημιουργήσει ένα τραγούδι με τον κόσμο.
Η Antigoni είχε την ψήφο μου από τη Ρουμανία 🇷🇴❤️🇨🇾
Προσωπικά στήριξα την Antigoni και την Κύπρο με τις ψήφους μου από τη Ρουμανία.
Ήθελα να δω την Κύπρο στον Μεγάλο Τελικό. Ήθελα να δω το „JALLA” να συνεχίζει στον διαγωνισμό και, πάνω απ’ όλα, ήθελα να στηρίξω μια καλλιτέχνιδα που εκπροσωπούσε μια χώρα με την οποία έχω μια πολύ ιδιαίτερη προσωπική σχέση.
Έζησα στην Κύπρο για αρκετά χρόνια, τόσο στη Λεμεσό όσο και στη Λάρνακα.
Εκείνα τα χρόνια μού άφησαν αναμνήσεις που κουβαλώ μαζί μου μέχρι σήμερα.
Μου λείπει η Κύπρος.
Μου λείπει η μουσική της και η μουσική της κουλτούρα. Μου λείπει το φαγητό, η ατμόσφαιρα και, πάνω απ’ όλα, οι υπέροχοι άνθρωποι που γνώρισα εκεί.
Όταν έχεις ζήσει στην Κύπρο, είναι δύσκολο να ξεχάσεις την ενέργεια και τον χαρακτήρα αυτού του τόπου.
Βλέποντας την Antigoni στη σκηνή της Eurovision, ένιωσα ξανά ένα κομμάτι από όλα αυτά.
Το „JALLA” είχε κυπριακή ψυχή
Αυτό που μου άρεσε ιδιαίτερα στο „JALLA” ήταν ο χαρακτήρας του.
Είχε ενέργεια, ρυθμό και μεσογειακό αέρα. Η Antigoni κατάφερε να μεταφέρει στη σκηνή στοιχεία της κυπριακής της ταυτότητας με έναν σύγχρονο τρόπο.
Η εμφάνισή της είχε αυτοπεποίθηση, κίνηση και προσωπικότητα.
Και αυτό είναι πολύ σημαντικό στη Eurovision.
Μέσα σε λίγα λεπτά, ένας καλλιτέχνης πρέπει να καταφέρει να τραβήξει την προσοχή εκατομμυρίων ανθρώπων από διαφορετικές χώρες.
Η Antigoni το κατάφερε με τον δικό της τρόπο.
Από τον ημιτελικό στον Μεγάλο Τελικό
Μία από τις στιγμές που περίμενα περισσότερο ήταν η ανακοίνωση της πρόκρισης της Κύπρου.
Όταν η Κύπρος πήρε το εισιτήριο για τον Μεγάλο Τελικό, χάρηκα πραγματικά.
Ήταν μια όμορφη στιγμή για όλους όσοι στηρίξαμε την Antigoni και το „JALLA”.
Η τελική θέση δεν αλλάζει την προσωπική μου άποψη για τη συμμετοχή.
Στη Eurovision οι βαθμοί έχουν σημασία, αλλά η μουσική παραμένει κάτι προσωπικό.
Υπάρχουν τραγούδια που μπορεί να μη βρεθούν στο Top 10, αλλά συνεχίζεις να τα ακούς και να τα θυμάσαι πολύ μετά το τέλος του διαγωνισμού.
Για μένα, το „JALLA” είναι ένα από αυτά.
Η Κύπρος θα έχει πάντα τη στήριξή μου 🇨🇾❤️🇷🇴
Η σχέση μου με την Κύπρο δεν περιορίζεται στη Eurovision.
Έχοντας ζήσει στη Λεμεσό και στη Λάρνακα, αγάπησα το νησί, τη μουσική του, την κουλτούρα του, το φαγητό του και τους ανθρώπους του.
Παρόλο που φέτος παρακολούθησα και ψήφισα από τη Ρουμανία, ένα κομμάτι μου ένιωθε σαν να στηρίζει έναν τόπο που κάποτε ήταν και δικό μου σπίτι.
Η Antigoni εκπροσώπησε την Κύπρο με ενέργεια, αυτοπεποίθηση και προσωπικότητα.
Χάρηκα που μπόρεσα να τη στηρίξω με τις ψήφους μου από τη Ρουμανία.
